Optimal Summit: The Future of Mental Health, Creativity and the Metaverse
During the World Economic Forum 2023, Wisdom Health’s sister company Optimal XR AG hosted the Optimal Summit during Davos WEF Week, a day long event about the Future of Mental Health, Creativity and the Metaverse, with the participation of Meredith Patterson (technologist, science fiction writer, journalist and expert in cybersecurity), Kevin Kajitani (Co-Founder of Avatarin with Akira Fukabori) and Annika Kessel (futurist developing avatars in the Metaverse with Cosmiq).
The Panel Conversation
Meredith Patterson started the panel conversation sharing her positive thoughts regarding the future: “Metaverse/Web3 enables us to rethink the way we interact as human beings and with which tools. What I see the beauty of Web 3 and the Metaverse is enabling if we're using decentralization communities: decentralization of power and money. So this is the vision that we are moving as a society, as a digital nation of love, but we are humans just orchestrated by the new technology and decentralize whether it's supporting the non-ego, the oneness, and that's possible through Web 3 and the Metaverse, that we can move from a state, from a human doing to a human being. And I am 1,000 percent secure that this is possible in this incarnation altogether, whoever is ready.”
And how do we get there? “I think the vision is really to unleash humanity's full potential and I don't think we're doing that right now. And I think in order to do that, one thing we first need to do is make a space, whether it's virtual or real, where everybody feels comfortable and is able to leverage their gifts”, added Annika Kessel.
With this merge of the virtual and real world, the development of the Metaverse and the AI taking over, we are experiencing such a fast evolution in society. This evolution is bringing a sense of scarcity, sadness, anger and fear. In the last 10 years, negative news has increased exponentially in the media. Even in the written content of books and movies, there are more negative emotions than ever. And that relates to how to apply technology to co-possess. The beauty of the current state of the world is that there is an invitation to choose what reality to connect to, a wake up call for people to step up and create the reality they want to experience.
“The economy we're in now is called the Creator Economy”, explains Annika Kessel. “We are creators, so we can create our own reality. And when we understand the outside world is the perception of ourselves, things change because we realize the entire situation in the world and the technology is a chance to jump out of victimhood, which is all the media is so bad, we're not victims if we decide to not. So stepping into our light and the self-responsibility to fully take everything that is, and to accept everything that is as love, that is the space we create, where humans come together, opening their heart, moving into a neutral mind and accepting everything that is. And from that space and from that frequency creating whatever wants to be created”.
“When we work in virtual reality and metaverse, as well our idea is not to give full sovereignty actually, but to give a framework that people can train to be self-sovereign”, added Meredith Patterson. “As we build the metaverse, both the real and the virtual, I think communication is going to be critical. And I think in catalyzing more opportunities to communicate with one another and share ideas, I think it's going to be really important. And I think that's how we can remain hopeful for the future.”
Having a better communication system will allow us to go from competition to collaboration, as Kevin Kajitani explains: “So as far as the new economy that is starting to emerge is concerned, we're not going to be able to compete our way out of global scale problems that competition got us into in the first place. We're going to have to cooperate our way out of them. We've managed to get larger aerospace contractors to do it and if they can cooperate, anyone can.”
“If we're in the frequency of cooperation and not competition, the other one can do nothing else than either going away or cooperating”, agreed Meredith. “It's game theory. So how do, maybe from a, how to lead in that infrastructure and in that culture, I feel the only way that works, especially with the energy that's on the earth right now is authenticity, truthfulness, and integrity. And that means people, because community in Web 3 means building bottom up. It means people are not employees anymore and there's not a boss telling them what to do. That's a creator economy that people start creating. They should, and this is very hard for some people, but we can only guide them with much empathy and compassion towards stepping into their creatorship and their self-responsibility. What are they here for? What do they want to create in this world? On that frequency, I believe we're coming closer to who we are as human beings and the potential. This is here, the technology is here to liberate humans and to democratize the entire economic system.”
To close this interesting conversation about the Metaverse, the creator economy and collaboration, Álvaro Guirao wrapped up the panel by coming back to the idea of self-sovereignty, of being connected to yourself and how we respond with more awareness and mindfulness. “Remember to come back to yourself first, to reconnect with who you are, to really apply this sense of personal care and be more mindful, more conscious. And then go out into the world and see what's going on and how we collaborate and how we confront and overcome all the obstacles that we are living through now and we might live through in the future”.
